Close, but no cigar

happy tea
Today, I have been mostly avoiding thinking about work (this isn't anything new, but normally it's current, academic work - this time, it was future, paid-employment work). I knew I was due a call from the people who'd interviewed me last Thursday, and I was sort of dreading it. I just didn't know whether or not I actually wanted the job. It wasn't the pay, or the training package, or the people - all were great. The thing is, the day after the interview, I sent off an application for another job - my dream job, working in marine environmental education and science communication for a museum in London.

I won't hear for several days whether I've even got an interview, but I really want the London job. So I was dreading being offered the South Coast job, and not being sure that I wanted to accept it. I know that on the scale of possible worries this ranks extremely low, is an ungrateful thing to wish, and I was lucky to get an interview. But still, I was stupidly stressed out about it.

I got the call. I didn't get the South Coast job. Fantastic :D

Welcome to my world.

In other news, I saw War of the Worlds tonight, and thought it was rather good. Much better than expected, although the trailers were still my favourite part of the cinema experience*! All that expectation, it does wonders for my mood. I was squirming in my seat with excitement, and doing my patented laugh-out-loud-and-embarrass-your-friends (who are used to it, bless 'em). King Kong, in particular, looked great. The fact that I didn't realise what the trailer was for until a minute in won it big brownie points. Peter Jackson is the don.

Am off home for a few days starting tomorrow, so expect some interruptions in service. I'll be checking in, just not obsessively as has become the norm. I think we shall call this 'healthy' ;D

ETA: For those that haven't read it yet, the second part of the big post-HBP interview with JKR is up, and is a very interesting read. Talks about theories, shipping, fandom reactions and all sorts! Also - HBP ship spoilers now in comments.

*This doesn't reflect on this particular film; the trailers are most often my favourite part except in very rare cases, occasionally even if I think the film is brilliant. I just really like the trailers, do you see?!
