I won't be around for the Merlin squee this weekend, or the Bradley/Colin epic roadtrip squee, 'cos I'm heading out of town where there may or may not be internets. Hopefully there will be snowboarding and mulled wine, so it seems like a fair trade. Alas, the travel requires me to get up in two hours and I haven't been to sleep yet :-/

Why are we so thankful for Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel in 2009? Simple. The duo redefined the "cute couple" with their cool characters in "(500) Days of Summer." They almost made us forget about all the generic rom-coms and recycled relationship tropes regurgitated onto movie screens over the past year. We salute them for their originality, their willingness to take risks and their joyful, affecting, truthful portrait of love and loss.
Recently, Gordon-Levitt and Deschanel stopped by the MTV News offices to chat about their on- and off-screen bond, their other successful projects this year and what we can look forward to from them in the future — including a possible reunion on the big screen.

Cougar Town is getting back its Realtor.
The ABC show, which stopped filming briefly last week so star Courteney Cox could attend to a "family matter," resumes production Nov. 30 following an already-planned weeklong break for Thanksgiving, the network says.
The nature of the family issue wasn't disclosed. But Cox's reps confirm to PEOPLE the actress and her family are fine and that she'll be returning to work following the Thanksgiving hiatus.
&
Cox's costar Busy Phillips wrote in a Twitter message Monday that Cougar Town was "only down one day" and that "we're back shooting after Thanksgiving. I'll pass along the love to CC."

The Kelly siblings at the family's vacation home in Ocean City, N.J., during the 1940s (from left): Elizabeth, Grace, Margaret Kelly Conlan, and John Jr. All are deceased.
Growing up in East Falls, Lizanne Kelly and an older sister, Grace, acted in productions at the Old Academy Players in Philadelphia.
Grace would go on to become an Academy Award-winning actress and a princess.
Lizanne would become an accomplished athlete, a community volunteer, a wife, a mother, and devoted "Aunt Lizzie" to Grace's three children and other nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth "Lizanne" Kelly Le Vine, 76, died of cancer Tuesday at the Quadrangle, a retirement community in Haverford.
Though she chose not to pursue an acting career, Mrs. Le Vine did experience Hollywood's glitter. She spent summers "chaperoning" Grace on movie sets and had her photo taken with Alfred Hitchcock, who directed Grace in To Catch a Thief, said her son, Chris, an investment adviser.
Mrs. Le Vine, whose father, John B. Kelly Sr., and brother, John Jr., were Olympic rowers, was a star hockey player at Ravenhill Academy in East Falls. She also played basketball at Ravenhill and was president of the student council.
She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where she captained the varsity hockey team. Wearing her hockey uniform, in 1955 she was one of the first women to appear in a photograph in Sports Illustrated.

Can we talk about how Grace Kelly low-key got it from every leading man in Hollywood? How I just recently found out about that shit, I will never know. I know we got some srs Old Hollywood buffs in here!

NBC Rejects PETA Thanksgiving Day Parade Ad
From the PETA blog:
“When we first submitted our newest commercial to NBC in the hopes of running it during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the station asked us to give more information about the cruelty behind turkey slaughter to back up the statements made in the ad. But even after we sent the network this New York Times article chronicling the grisly facts about turkey factory farming, it nixed the ad, claiming that “this commercial does not meet NBC Universal standards.”
The commercial:
Gobble Gobble.
How many of you had/will have turkey today? Also, how lulzy is it that we're one of their friends given that so many members hate them?

As some sat down on Thursday to eat deep-fried turkeys and honey roasted ham, many people around the U.S. were enjoying a dinner of crudites, sweet potato sticks, green bean casserole, winter salad, apple stuffing, gravy, Tofurky, tofu chocolate mousse pie, and pumpkin "cheese"-cake.

Zac Efron tugs on his black bag as he arrives at LAX airport in Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon (November 25).
The 22-year-old actor, wearing a Bruce Lee tee, just returned from premiering his new flick, Me & Orson Welles in New York City.
Zac even got flustered at the premiere by another Zac — Posen. He shared with the NY Daily News, “Wait … is that Zac Posen? Wow. Amber Rose is here? I just can’t believe she’s here.”

Baby Smiley continued her mission of turning all of us into chola beauties by taking her Sharpie to Sandra Bullock's eyebrows on Lopez Tonight last night. Sandra agreed to the chola makeover, because she said she wanted to become "more Latin." I was waiting for my abuelita's chankla to hit her and George Lopez in the mouth after that was said.
When Sandra came out as "La Nalgona," an oldies song didn't play in my head and I didn't flinch like a hot razor was about to slice my cheek open. You know, Sandra's canvas just doesn't have what it takes to pull off the chola look. Sandra looked more like a deflated Michaela Romanini.
And if you can't look like a chola who can give a ten-week hickey in five seconds, then you might as well look like Michaela Romanini. So Sandra should keep up the makeover.
Below is a clip of Sandra's transformation from a plate of boiled watercress to the homegirl version of Michaela Romanini.

Who were they wearing Fashion Edition

Natalie Portman arrived at the New York City Ballet opening night gala this week wearing a Vena Cava Spring 2010 navy and white printed dress.
I would’ve thought going to a ballet required a look more regal and elegant.
This look could just as easily have been worn to run errands in.
I love the dress, but not for this occasion.

I have something important to share, and I hope you’ll readily receive this message:
It pains my heart to see my generation lying around, using their teen years as an excusable “transition-phase” so they can avoid taking on responsibilities before it’s necessary. This period is intended to be the launching pad for our futures! Do you think that the less-than-convicted habits you’re forming and apathetic character you’re developing will magically transform into a successful adulthood without any action taken by you? Friends, we’re setting ourselves up for mediocrity. We pride ourselves on being the “do-something” generation, yet most of us are still wasting multiple hours web surfing every night. Did you forget that we have one life here on earth? Please do not get distracted by temporary matters. Who’s dating who does not contribute positive change to society. Worrying over who’s rocking the latest threads will not help you lead a fulfilled life. The glittering, shiny things wear off; they tarnish. So invest your time and money in something purposeful. Everyone has a gift, along with potential to use it. And it’s unfair to the millions of lives you were created to touch if you don’t follow your calling. Please, friends, I encourage you to look at yourself in the mirror and ask, “Who do I really want to be today? tomorrow? in 10 years? What small steps and giant leaps do I need to take to get there?” Friends, dare to dream. We have an imagination for a reason. Write down your wildest dreams and then create an action plan to make it happen. Stay focused on improving your character and skills (instead of nit-packing others’ flaws) so you’ll be prepared to fly when the opportunity arises. You were created to do amazing things, and I’m not going to let you fail. You are strong. You are valued. You are loved, and you are gifted. Do not waste your life.
For inspiration, research 3 past, positive world-changers. For example, read about Martin Luther King, jr.’s life, or Nelson Mandela’s famous speeches. Or, check out these books:
1) Lose Your Cool — Zach Hunter
2) Do Hard Things — Alex & Brett Harris
Call me at 1(419)329-4780 to fill me in on how you’re taking action to make a difference (in your life and in others’).
With love,
Alyson

You might remember Reggie shot a PSA for St Jude's Children's Hospital with this adorable and brave little girl called Anna. This video really touched me and I think today especially we should all really think about what we are thankful for and let those around us know how much we love them, and how thankful we are to have them in our lives.
Thanks to all the wonderful people at St Jude's who do such an amazing job caring for so many kids. I'm thinking of you this Thanksgiving, Anna!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

I just finished wiping away the tears of laughter as I just discovered that the Weinstein Company and Dimension Films are planning on remaking The Amityville Horror...again. Andrew Douglas directed the 2005 reboot produced by Platinum Dunes that grossed over $100m at the box office worldwide. I guess five years in the new 25? Our sources also tell us that there just might be a director already in talks to develop the project. Knowing Dimension Films, I'd expect this project to start and stop at least a dozen times before it ultimately fails. Alas horror fiends, don't stress it no matter how idiotic this sounds. The original 1979 film followed newlyweds as they move into a house where a murder was committed, and experience strange manifestations which drive them away. MGM also retains different rights and were planning on developing The Amityville Tapes, which has been put on the back burner while MGM figures out their financial woes (auction anyone?).
